Engagement rings should be as timeless as the relationships they honor. As a jewelry store that's dedicated to such wonderful pairings, we stock exquisite rings of all kinds. Diamonds, however, are a specialty of the house. When it comes to selecting the right ring for you and your betrothed, only the right diamond will do.

When considering a diamond, there are the "Four Cs." These are clarity, color, cut, and carat weight. These affect the all-important "Fifth C," which is cost. But, when you're selecting one of our superlative engagement rings, you need to know a little about what's what when it comes to those categories.

Diamond Ring Clarity

Nearly all diamonds have what are known as "inclusions." These are imperfections in the structure of the stones. They could be minute traces of other materials, tiny ripples, or even small protrusions. None of these will affect the integrity of a diamond. But, the more inclusions there are, the less valuable the diamond. It's important to remember that most of these inclusions are invisible to the naked eye. It takes an expert jeweler with a loupe to discern them.

Diamond Ring Color

Generally, the color of diamonds ranges from ice white to Z. Of course, there are diamonds of other colors as well. The Hope Diamond, for example, is a deep blue. Colors that are outside the range of ice white to Z are called "fancy colors." Normally, the rule is that "less is more." Colorless diamonds are more valuable than those with visible color in the normal spectrum. However, the "fancy colors" could also be extremely valuable. We can advise you on how the color of your chosen stone affects the price.

Diamond Ring Cut

When it comes to quality, "cut" doesn't mean "marquise" vs. "emerald." It refers to the expertise with which the gemologist actually cuts the stone. The facets should compliment each other, reflecting light from one to other in perfect balance. Poorly cut stones don't have the same brilliance as those with exceptional quality. We aim always to have stones of the highest possible quality on hand.

Diamond Ring Carat

Carat weight is where the rule of "less is more" doesn't apply. Bigger diamonds will be more expensive than smaller diamonds as long as the other three Cs are the same. Of course, it's possible for a flawless, ice-white, half-carat stone to be much more expensive than a one-carat stone that's slightly occluded and Z. Again, you can rely on our expertise and knowledge regarding all of our diamonds to get the best possible stone within your budget and tastes.

Ethics

It's absolutely crucial in today's day and age for diamonds to be ethically mined and processed. We guarantee that all of our stones have a GIA Diamond Origin Report.
